A fruitful year has passed since the foundation of Artescuela, a visual art organization of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. Artescuela started with only nine enthusiastic workshop graduates who became the core members to take a rather great yet exceptional opportunity of being art advocates at their age.

September 27, 2014 stood the gala of the hyper-realistic dreams and abstract struggles that were encountered throughout a period of impressionistic yet surreal journey by Artescuela. After raising their pennon with their past exhibits, the organization celebrated its very first year of existence. Now that they have overcome their incipient days, they step up to promote art consciousness within their community in their generation through the refinement of the artistic crafts each member possesses.

Artescuela proudly presented their first anniversary exhibit, entitled “ArteFacts: Celebrating the Foundation of an Artistic Quest”, which ran from the 27th day of September to the 18th day of October in the year 2014. For the opening ceremony, the doxology and national anthem was directed by Mr. Danim R. Majerano together with the “Humanities Choir Project”, followed by a heartfelt opening remarks from the current president of Artescuela, Mr. Ar John Z. Marcial. The former President of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig and Harvard University Alumni, Dr. Corazon M. Raymundo, shared a very inspiring and exhilarating message as well in acknowledgment of the prosperous and ever compelling art here in the city of Pasig. The rite ended with the closing remarks from Mr. Jason Rey L. Sto. Niño, Vice President of Artescuela.

With this comes a new beginning and brand new surprises that are yet to be unveiled. Artescuela will continue to journey in their momentous and vast walk in their field of passion. They will always come shattering the boundaries of being art advocates, exploring their common interests as they function amongst their peers in the realm of artistry. A member once quoted, “Being an artist is not simply a hobby to fool around with; rather it is a responsibility to take part in”.
